Coffee Connections Gateway – 3

Continuing with our latest commercial job, is this center standing counter.

It creates a great separator between the sale area and seating area without making the space feel smaller.

The frame is covered in tea stained shiplap.

The bar is a solid plank stained Jacobean and supported by 1″ black pipe legs.

The cap is a live edge locally sourced Red Oak slab coated in epoxy resin. we removed the bark from the live edge and gave it a light sanding so it would be smooth and not snag customers’ clothing.

This is actually a refurbish job. The client found this chest in an antique shop, but it did not have a lid and was a bit flimsy.

We built a new lid matching the style of the chest and then matched the color with our own stain mix. Finally we added some corner support to give it more structural integrity.

The client is using it for a coffee table and it fits perfectly in their family room.

More Cutting Boards

We love working with different woods and cutting boards give us a great chance to do just that.

Here are some recent ones we have crafted.

Barn Doors

These custom built barn doors replaced some boring slab sliding closet doors.

We installed new heavy duty sliding tracks that will handle the weight and daily use of the new doors. The barn door wheels on the visible track above move with the outer door though they are not supporting any weight.

Both doors open allowing access to either side of the storage closet.

New Mantel and Floating Shelf

The transformation of this living space is drastic with the update to the fireplace. It required removing three shelves sticking out of the brick above the fireplace. The brick was painted white to provide the great contrast against the darkly stained new mantel. Once that was accomplished we were able to install the new wrap-around mantel.

The mantel even has a built-in recessed outlet for the TV which now changes above it. The mantel is oak and finished with Jacobean stain and semi-gloss polyurethane.

We also added a floating shelf on the opposite wall front he mantel.

Keepsake Box

This keepsake box was crafted for a client to give to a friend for her 18th Birthday. It was filled with a scrapbook of their friendship.

The box is made from poplar. Poplar has a beautiful natural grain with great contrast. The lid is crafted from Yellowheart, Beli, Zebrawood, and framed in Mahogany. The lid is routed to fit on the box without sliding around.

The box and lid were finished with a clear satin polyurethane.

Ohio Flag

This wall hanging is made from reclaimed lumber. The flag of Ohio really stands out against the dark stain.
