Coffee Connections Gateway – 2

The second thing we will highlight from our latest commercial job will be the tables and bench.

The client asked for “farmhouse” style tables. We milled some 2x6s to be square and straight.

Using biscuits and glue we joined the planks to form the look the client desired. We then stained the wood with Jacobean stain and coated them in epoxy resin.

The tops are mounted on standard restaurant bases.

We covered the wall behind the tables in 1×8 shiplap that was tea stained. The bench is attached to the wall and has 1″ black pipe legs across the front.

The tables were designed to be 3 separate or can be placed together to form one long table.

This is actually a refurbish job. The client found this chest in an antique shop, but it did not have a lid and was a bit flimsy.

We built a new lid matching the style of the chest and then matched the color with our own stain mix. Finally we added some corner support to give it more structural integrity.

The client is using it for a coffee table and it fits perfectly in their family room.

Coffee Shop

This was a fun build. It is a local coffee shop in a converted house.

We built a custom point of sale and prep counter. Behind that is a custom built shelf unit for product display. We added shiplap in the café area along with bar height seating. The shelving and counters are stained using the color jacobean. The shiplap is stained using tea bags, steel wool, and vinegar.

We also built modular tables for the café seating area that can be combined for a lafrger table area or separated for individual end tables.

Laundry Room Organization

When you laundry room is also your main storage area, you need to be organized. For this project we built custom cabinets to provide a place for the client to use bins to keep all of their kids sports and activities equipment organized and accessible. Above the cabinet on the right is an additional hanging rod made of galvanized pipe for additional clothing storage.

By the washer and dryer, we enclosed the pipes and connections running along the wall. We added a hinged top for access to the pipes should it be needed. The counter tops are edge glued and stained ebony with a satin poly finish. We added an additional shelf below next to the dryer for additional storage. The client is using the large open space under the counter for their dog crate.

The legs are galvanized pipe as is the hanging rod above.

Live Edge Cherry Desk

This is a beautiful piece of furniture. Crafted from an old cherry slab that had been collecting dust for years in a garage. Purpleheart bowties were inserted to stabilize the crack in the slab and add some great contrasting character. The legs are custom fabricated 1/2″ x 2″ steel by our friends at Friesen Fab & Equipment in Plain City, OH.

We used clear epoxy to fill in the cracks and natural divots in the wood while maintaining the beauty of the wood. Oil and a satin poly finish it off with a great low gloss natural look.

This accent table is made with poplar, pine, cedar, and PVC board.

The unique look of each piece of material combined with the contrasting grain of the polar really complement each other in this design.

Poplar Dining Room Table & Bench

This table is made from rough cut poplar planed and cut into 2×2 strips and then edge glued.

The accompanying bench is made from a single 2″ thick poplar board.

The natural character and color in the wood is brought out with a natural Danish oil and then covered in polyurethane.

We would love to build you a custom dining table!

Ash Live Edge Table/Desk

This solid slab ash table is perfect for a small dining space or to use as a writing desk. This came from a local tree in central Ohio near Columbus. It is approximately 3′ x 5′. The legs are iron pipe. This is a sturdy piece of furniture.

Kitchen Bench

For this job, the customer wanted a custom built in bench for their breakfast nook. Due to vents and electrical outlets, the underside of the bench had to be left open. The legs were custom cut to fit the space and painted to match the trim. The bench is edge glued Aspen stained “Dark Walnut” to match the flooring.

Farmhouse Table

This custom built table was designed for a small dining space in a shared living room for a Cape Cod style home.

The benches were made to slide under the table fully so the table could be pushed against the wall when not in use and not block the way through the space to the rest of the house.
